NYC, Veteran’s Clothing Giveaway, Devil Dog USA Inc.

I am proud to support the 2014 Devil Dog USA Inc. Veterans clothing Giveaway going on tomorrow in The Bronx, NYC.

Please stop by and help spread the word to fellow veterans and their families in their time of need.

The clothing giveaway will take place tomorrow, Monday, September 8, 2014, from 10am to 4pm. Veterans and their families can come to our office, located at 4555 3rd Avenue, Bronx, NY 10458. Our phone number is (516)515-0240.

“(I’m) just here, you know, regrouping (and) trying to get into a job program,” said Easterling.

“Many of our veterans are struggling to find jobs,” said Des Vignes. “Some of them are applying for the first time in years so it’s a huge deal to be able to provide them with professional attire so they can go on that interview.”

As Navy veteran Antonio Easterling attested two weeks ago during an interview with Fox News’ Dan Spehler, programs and resources provided by organizations such as Devil Dog USA Inc. help reduce the number of homeless veterans.

“Federal officials say there are about 24,000 fewer homeless veterans- a 33 percent drop since 2010- with a nearly 40 percent decline in the number of veterans sleeping on the street.”

This is great news to hear, as the numbers show we are making progress in providing support and assistance to a growing veteran population. The active duty Armed Forces is reducing in size over the next few years. As such, we will have an increase in veterans joining the civilian sector.

As you may have read/heard/experienced, some of the public sector organizations (Department of Veteran’s Affairs for example) charged with assisting our veterans into a healthy transition have faced numerous challenges. As such, many veterans lack the support and assistance they were once promised. Organizations like Devil Dog USA Inc. are nonprofit agencies dedicated to filling the gap, and providing veterans the resources needed to facilitate a smooth transition into the civilian sector.

If you want to learn about some of the resources available or want to help support in any way DDUSAINCyou can, our site is www.DevilDogUSAinc.org (nonprofit organization), or you can contact me through any of the links on this website. I am the Connecticut Liaison for the organization.
