Is Your Business Ready For The EMV Migration?

Whether you’re a seasoned business owner or an up and coming entrepreneur, a shift in liability has taken place as of October 1, 2015.  As you’re reading this article, fraudulent charges are being placed on numerous unsuspecting victims. Another alarming fact is that merchants and business owners (regardless of company size) may be held liable for any fraudulent charges!

Have you prepared to accept EMV cards? If you haven’t purchased or received a replacement to your older credit card readers, its not too late.

There are a few EMV readers on the market, and supply of said readers has yet to catch up to the demand. If you’re a small business owner and/or solopreneur, you may benefit from having a point of 640px-Credit-cardssale system flexible enough to travel with you and your business. This is why I recommend considering *Square as a solution. If you’re reading this article and you still do not have an EMV reader, click on the preceding link and register for a square reader. I personally use and recommend Square because “Liability Shift Protection is available for free to all Square sellers who pre-order the Square contactless and chip card reader. Coverage begins the moment a pre-order is placed until the reader arrives.” What this means to me is that you can be protected immediately, even if you do not have the reader in your possession.

* As a Square user, the link provided above is an affiliate link, and while I wholeheartedly recommend this service based on its own merits, I may receive a discount on my own processing fees based on this referral.
